Elena likes to pull at and try to eat plants. She has ever since she started being rollingly mobile some ~6 weeks ago. In Germany she goes after the plants and she is told “Nein!” – which is “No!” in German.
Well, it seems as though Miss Elena now likes to crawl up to the plants, gesture at them, and say “Nein!” The implication, I believe, is that Elena thinks the word for “plant” is “nein”. Her confusion with the English, errrr, German language aside, I find it pretty amazing that my little not-yet-7-month-old daughter is able to toddle across a room, gesture at something and clearly say the word she believes is used to identify it. “Oma” and “Mama” and “Dada” were one thing, but going up to a plant and exclaiming “Nein”?! That is just much too cool.
I really wish I could see this, and hopefully will soon…
