As a mea culpa, I had the opportunity to meet with Bastian Unterberg a founder of Jovoto over the weekend in New York. He explained that they are actually charging market rates or above for their services, and based on the prices he was quoting that sounds correct. Lumping Jovoto in with Genius Rocket and other similar services was clearly incorrect and I want to repeat here my personal apology to him for that misinterpretation. The good news is they have a new website launch - and more crisp marketing copy - in the works to better position their intriguing brand promise...

A few years ago everyone was concerned about outsourcing of creative works overseas and yet we are still around. While crowdsourcing seems to be the latest threat, I do believe it will be short-lived. Our business is foremost about people and most clients like to work with designers they already know or of their reputation.

if crowdsourcing brings us one good thing, it will be creative class consciousness -- richard florida keeps saying creative class consciousness doesn't exist. this class will do well to drop the pretentiousness and start to emphasize if not ally itself with other sectors of the working class though; after all, the 'capitalistic mentality or agenda' hurts everyone under it, no matter how fine a gradient we want to apply to that hierarchy.
