Politics

Ah, if only this were so simple.

I am all over the board. Where to begin?

I believe that capitalism is a necessary evil that I hope to someday be a catalyst for ending.

I believe that men and women are of equal value but have different and important strengths/weaknesses/qualities that, *on average*, are relatively consistent throughout the gender. Thus, while I don’t think that people of different genders “should” do one thing or another, there is inherent logic in the traditional gender roles.

I believe that all races and ethnicities are of equal value but have different and important strengths/weaknesses/qualities that, *on average*, are relatively consistent throughout the race/ethnic group. Thus, while the brightest person in the world may be “African” in recent descent and the most physically capable “Asian” in recent descent, I acknowledge that it is a provable reality that is not consistent with the reality of the “average” member of those groups.

I believe that people should be given equal opportunity to succeed but that those who fail should not be supported by those who succeed (welfare, etc.)

I believe that Affirmative Action is trying to accomplish noble ends but is a twisted and self-defeating system that serves to polarize difference rather than engender opportunity and equality.

I believe that our species has DEvolved during its development and has to take a lot of steps back before we can go forward again.

I believe that we need to accept and encourage difference, promote tolerance and love one another.

I believe that the current Republican agenda is taking us dangerously close to war and conflict that could spell the end for millions of the members of our species, possibly millions of U.S. civilians. This should not be allowed to happen.

I believe that the long-standing Democratic liberal social agenda is self-aggrandizing and built from an elitist, white middle-upper class perception of “knowing better than the savages” that carried over from European thought dating back over two thousand years.

I believe that fundamentalist religious fervor will be the cause of brutal wars and conflict in the next hundred years and represent the biggest threat to our species.

I believe that the Earth is precious and should be nurtured, protected and cultivated, not sacrificed on the altar of mass consumption and greed.

I believe that we need to end the “two party system” in order to achive political growth and keep up with the rest of the world.

I believe in freedom of speech but I also believe that the out-of-control focus on entertainment and gluttony is culminating in our children being filled with a surplus of junk and garbage that really must be controlled.
